Previously my sis’s computer, and Brandon’s office computer having the same problems… which can’t browse any website no matter using Internet Explorer or Firefox… I tried to use lots of way to fix it.. even think of want to reformat the PC… but… before i decide to reformat the PC… i try search thru google to find more solutions… end up.. i get to LiewCF’s blog which provides me the easiest way to solve it… kekekeke…
As what he mentioned in his blog, he suspect that this problem was cause by corrupted Winsock2, which is used by windows network software to access network services.
Here’s the tutorial he fount to repair repair Winsock2 corruption at Microsoft Support. If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2, it only takes a command to report Winsock2:
type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt
After that you just need to restart your PC then the Winsock2 shall be fixed.
Here’s another tutorial by Microsoft Support for Window XP without SP2, which will takes more steps to repair the Winsock2.
















Wow…for troubleshooting PC for years, I haven’t encounter this problem before. Is it because your PC has virus that trying to mess up with the winsock2? Anyway, glad you found yourself the solution.
this is the first time i encounter this kind of problem too.. phew… not sure izzit cause of virus… cause that’s my sis’s computer :p hehehe
it could be caused by corrupted system files or improper shutdown.. well, it’s windows (mac converter here)
