ya.. in southern peninsula (Melaka, Johor), “pan min mit” is called mian fen gao in Mandarin (or mee hun kuey in Hokkien). At many places in southern peninsula, “pan min” is still called pan mian in Mandari though.
In muar hardly can see the word Pan Mian.. hmm
lol i oso nt used to it when i came kl..
Coz we alr called that name since small time..hahaha..
Diff cultural =p
ya.. different culture.. :p
In Singapore, Ban Mian is the long flat noodle while Mee Hoon Kuay is they use hand to tear the dough into pieces but either kind, they are all called shou kong mian.
Weirdly, why does the top picture look like char kway teow while the bottom one looked like kon lou mee?
Singapore one are all soup.
oh oh.. all also called as shou kong mian arr.. hmm.. oh.. why one look like char kway teow another one look like kon lou mee arr.. cause both also we ordered Dry STYLE.. hehe.. they do have soup style too..
Ohh… cause Singapore doesn’t have dry one. Only soups.
I prefer the pan mee in KL too…the flour seems very different in the Muar pan mee!
yeah, i am from malacca and all my life i’ve known it to be mian fen gao.. when i came to KL i was so surprised & disappointed cos i couldn’t find it anywhere!! haha, only recently (after 3 yrs i’m in KL!) did my friend tell me that it’s the same as pan mee -_-
