I always wanted to update my new phone firmware… cause there’s a lots of things that i think should be included in the phone… hmm… the most important feature that i wanted it to include is the Quick Contact Search features… cause previously for some reasons Asia version don’t have this features… waited for almost one month… finally there’s a new firmware for Nokia E71… let’s check it out… below are the screenshots that i’ve made while updating the Nokia E71 firmware..
Finally.. there’s a new firmware update available for my phone.. phew… after i did all the preparation.. ya.. a lot of preparations… phew.
1. have to bring along the phone cable…
2. make sure the phone is fully charged…
3. make sure Kelvin didn’t play Dota while i’m doing the firmware update.. hehe cause scare later the wifi connection will die.. :p
hehe..okok everything is ready.. let’s start..phew.. so scary.. cause i have been listen to lots of people saying that is dangerous to update the firmware by urself.. cause.. if you did something wrong.. the whole phone will spoil.. as in.. ya.. won’t wake up anymore.. will rest in peace forever… phew… that scary… phew.. i have to double triple confirm that nothing goes wrong… i actually make sure that my laptop is connected to the power adapter correctly.. and.. to double confirm that won’t have power out… i actually plug in my battery as well… But come to think of it.. if there’s really power off for the whole house.. means.. wifi will be gone too.. connection gone too.. phew.. nvm lar.. won’t be that bad luck right.. phew.. just in case that power plug spoil.. so i plug in the batter as well.. hahaha.. okok… now.. we can start follow the steps and upgrade my lovely Nokia E71 Firmware…

Before we proceed to the upgrade… there’s one more thing you have to do.. is a must… what’s that? ya.. to backup your phone.. how to backup? here’s the steps you can follow…

first… make sure all data and content in the phone memory is back up… this is really important… you can backup your phone content by using the backup software that provided in the Nokia PC Suite…
Once you finish backup your phone content.. click Next… then.. switch your phone on and connect it to your PC using the USB cable… there’s two important NOTE you need to take note…
1. Please check that there is a SIM card in the phone and that the “General” profile is selected… (initially i actually removed my SIM card.. cause i scare will have someone call me while updating firmware… kekeke… when i see this… i faster off my phone and put the sim card back in :p hahaha)
2. Please ensure that your phone’s battery is fully charged in order to ensure that the battery doesn’t run out of power during the update process (this is really important.. cause if the phone run out of power during the updates might cause a big problem to the phone..-_- )
ok… everything is SET… now… let’s start update…
searching for updates… wait wait wait… so curious…
If there’s no updates.. you will see this screen…
If… there’s a new updates.. then you will get to see this screen :p
remember to see all the points carefully…
1. ensured that your memory card is not password protected or encrypted
2. make sure you won’t disconnect your phone during the update process… cause it will cause severe damage to your phone…
Once.. you make sure all the points.. then.. you may start update your firmware… tada
updating.. updating… the screen will show you.. the system is preparing the installation 
on the left side of the window it will show you your Phone region… current firmware : 100.07.76 and also the latest firmware that you gonna update: 110.07.127
once they finish prepare.. then it will start download the updates… (make sure your connection is stable enough… phew… ya… i actually scare that the connection will lost while updating the software.. so… before i start i actually told Kelvin not to play DOTA.. cause… i gonna update my phone firmware… hahaha…)
hahaha.. see.. so farny our chat log…
besides that… i actually connect my laptop with the the AC adapter… and also… the battery too.. hahaha.. cause i scared that what if suddenly there’s no electric supply or even the power plug spoiled i will still have the battery..
phew.. start download d… phew… but i feel that the process is a bit slow.. so scared that someone will call me during the firmware update…

I keep look at the Don’t panic wordings… but.. still feel panic.. cause my phone keep disconnect and connect to the laptop.. -_-” i wonder is my phone doing alright…

wow.. finally everything is done… now my phone have the latest firmware…
once you finish update your firmware.. then you may start restore the backup files that you backup earlier :p hehehe.. and.. that’s it… everything is done…

I upgraded to the above firmware and now my E71 cannot access my WLAN nor 3G connection. Even my Nokia Email client disappeared and cannot be reinstalled. Fring won’t work cos there is not internet connection. Other than this, everything else seem to work but I don’t find the so call improvements that they claimed to have. Wonder it this is an upgrade or some hoax.
Anyone who has upgraded and solved the above problems, kindly share your experience.

i didn’t face any WLAN nor 3G connection problem.. hmm.. didn’t use Nokia Email client as well… hmm..
my Fring still working fine…
actually i didn’t notice any improvement as well.. even the camera.. is still the same.. purple-ish… phew..

I did the upgrade, and i did the back up with Nokia Pc Suite before I proceed with update, and when I restore my data to my phone, only files under gallery has been restore and my contacts, smses, calendar, and notes all gone!!
Anyone can offer help?
did you use the backup function in your Nokia PC Suite? if you did then i don’t think there will be any problem after you restore.. cause… i did the same thing… all my contacts, smses, calendar is still there
Hi , sorry to hear that a few of our friends here have problems after the new firmware up gradation. I have found the new firmware has actually improved the phone performance.
Hi, the same is here. Wlan operations are impossible. The software is slower then the previous one. My suggestions DO NOT UPGRADE. Wait for better firmware version. I need advice or firmware version 100.07.76 to downgrade it.
I will appreciate any help.
